Description of the Project Seminar
In this project seminar a case study on the topic of entrepreneurship in the “Net Economy” will be examined. The central coordination platform for the project is a social community within which the participants create individual skill profiles to apply for their groups. Thereupon each group will introduce themselves into the topic of the “Net Economy”, Web 2.0 and business models during a so called production phase. In a following case study phase every team is asked to develop an idea for one of the business models from Rappa using a business model Canvas. The best results of the case study phase will be shown to the other participants during a final presentation event where the other groups will vote for a winning team. All work is conducted online, with the help of web 2.0 applications such as Google Sites or blogs. The course will be held in cooperation with students from other German and international universities (amongst others the Freie Universität Berlin, Ruhr Universität Bochum, Technische Universität Dresden and Swiss German University in Jakarta/Indonesia). The participating students from the various universities will be mixed together into international groups.
Teaching Assistants will support groups with the implementation of their projects and are available for contact during the course of the project. During this time students will receive insights into recent developments within the area of Information and Communications Technologies and their use for economic issues. The international character of the project allows for practical experience from different countries to be collected via the use of E-Learning and contact with students from other, in particular international, universities to be made.
The project will be conducted in English.
The seminar takes place between 19.10.2016 and 15.02.2017. During this time we'll meet three times, to have a live video conference meeting with the other locations. The final exam will be announced.
Besides an active and successful contribution to the seminar, participants have to pass a mid-term test following the production phase as well as a 60 minute exam at the end of the seminar. Therefore participants will receive 6 credit points. The grades for both parts of the exam, group project on the one hand and mid-term test as well as the exam on the other, contribute to half of the module grade. The module exam is passed when the module grade is at least at a standard of “sufficient” (4,0).
This module is available for BWL Bachelor students as an optional project (“Wahlveranstaltung”) with 6 ECTS points for the area of “Wirtschaftsinformatik”.
The first meeting takes place on Wednesday 19.10.2015 at 2 pm (until about 6 pm) at Garystrasse 21, K 006a PC Pool 1.
We look forward to your participation and an interesting and successful project work.
