The International Conference on Semantic Systems (I-SEMANTICS) is one of the largest conferences in Europe in the field of semantic systems and the Semantic Web, with more than 400 participants every year. I-SEMANTICS 2011 was the seventh edition of this conference, and the first edition where a best paper award has been given. Our group was proud to accept this honor with an extended presentation on September 9th 2011 .
DBpedia Spotlight is a flexible entity disambiguation and text annotation system. It can be used to enrich text with background knowledge from DBpedia, allowing applications to use semantic information to enhance user experience. The system can be used from its publicly available Web Service, or as an open source Java/Scala API. The slides for the DBpedia Spotlight presentation at I-SEMANTICS 2011 are available online .
