The research project deals with vehicle and crew scheduling in public bus transport.
The goal is the development of robust scheduling approaches so that vehicle blocks and crew duties are less affected by disruptions and short-term changes on the day of operations.
Focus of the project is to investigate the effects of robust scheduling between the planning stages and the integrated consideration of vehicle and crew scheduling. For this purpose historical delay data is analyzed and mathematical optimization models and methods for robust and cost-effective scheduling are developed. The results are validated by using simulation.
