Welcome to the Institute of Management
The Institute of Management is an international center of management research. Research results are regularly published in internationally renowned journals (e.g., Academy of Management Review, Organizational Science, Organization Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal). Additionally, members of the Institute publish influential German language textbooks and journals (e.g., Managementforschung). Several international conferences were organized and chaired by the Institute’s members (e.g., EGOS, SMS). A core concern of the Institute is the doctoral program „Pfade organisatorischer Prozesse“, sponsored by the German research foundation DFG.
The Institute encompasses five chairs:
- Organization and Leadership (Prof. Georg Schreyögg)
- Human Resource Management (Prof. Gregory Jackson)
- Strategic Management (Prof. Rudi Bresser)
- Alliances and Networks (Prof. Jörg Sydow)
- Knowledge Management (Prof. Thomas Mellewigt)
In addition, a professorship in Innovation Management is held by Prof. Carsten Dreher, currently on leave to serve as a director of the Free University’s Center for Cluster Development.
Four Junior Professorships are also part of the Institute of Management: Qualitative Research Methods (Prof. Jana Costas), Management (Prof. Ann-Christine Schulz), Human Resource / Diversity Management (Prof. Barbara Sieben), and Organization Theory (N.N.).
