The School of Business & Economics is characterized by a high quality of teaching, which is deeply anchored in the research work of the teachers. We are proud of our excellent and internationally recognized professors. Their national and international teaching- and research experiences greatly enrich our seminars and classes.
Numerous standard works and textbooks on business administration and economics stem from our School’s professors. The publication of current research results in internationally leading journals is a given; furthermore, many professors are on the editorial or publishing boards of internationally renowned journals.
How well our teachers and students cooperate is demonstrated every day. In spite of the size of our School, all of the teachers value being accessible to their students at all times.
Besides the high quality of teaching, our students also benefit from the quantity of events. The School of Business & Economics offers its students a large choice within the curricula. Through the extensive course offerings in business and economics, our students can prepare themselves for their professional careers with a broad subject overview and – already beginning the bachelor's degree program – by means of numerous major possibilities, develop a specialization and, with that, a job-relevant profile.
The large number of course offerings within broad and diverse disciplines distinguishes our School. A similarly broad spectrum of course offerings in German higher education is hard to find. Our master’s degree program in business administration has been offered as a specialized course of studies from the 2008/98 winter semester onward, with one semester abroad at another leading business school. The master's degree program in economics was first taught in the 2007/08 winter semester.
Being accepted to a degree program at the School of Business & Economics at Freie Universität is highly desirable. In spite of the large number of students, we are happy to be able to regularly teach many courses in small groups. With seminars or tutorials, we create optimal opportunities for an exciting exchange with teachers and fellow students and facilitate the efficient acquisition of knowledge.
Along with the classic lectures and seminars, the School regularly offers its students didactically designed classes, for example weekend courses, practice seminars organized with businesses, or behavioral-based experiences.
Our emphasis on being a modern School implies the integration of new media in our course offerings. Thus e-learning units reinforce the education in the School; the electronic system “Blackboard” supports students with learning materials and offers a possibility for exchange with fellow students and teachers. With the “Campus Management” system our students can flexibly organize their course load and monitor their university work themselves.
