Short Biography

My research focuses on corporate governance, leadership, corporate social responsibility, institutional approaches to employment relations and human resource management, and organizational change in non-profit organizations.I am the principal investigator for the project “BOARDEQUALITY: Women in the Boardroom: Institutional and Organizational Approaches to Gender Equality” funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme for Research. In this four-year project I am investigating the determinants and effects of the gender composition of corporate boards. As a member of the EU-funded project “INCAS: Understanding Institutional Change in Asia: A Comparative Perspective with Europe” I am comparing changes in corporate social responsibility in Germany and Japan. In my research on international and comparative employment relations and HRM, I have examined how national institutional factors and cross-national industry-specific factors affect firms’ HR strategies in the auto and banking industries. My research on organizational change in non-profit organizations has focused on post-merger integration processes in trade unions and on the effect of changes in the gender composition of union committee structures on organizational reputation, identity and strategy.
