Local Partners

The research unit will collaborate with several local partners. The Dahlem Humanities Center (DHC), for instance, hosted “Black Mountain Research”, which looked at the Black Mountain College as a model for creative processes in the art world. In 2014 and 2015 the DHC, and in particular Annette Jael Lehmann, Professor of Theatre Studies at Freie Universität, was involved in an exhibition on the topic at Hamburger Bahnhof and in the preparation of a follow-up workshop. Similarly, there are connections to the TOPOI Excellence Cluster 264, which is co-hosted by Freie Universität, coordinated by Michael Meyer, Professor of Prehistoric Archeology, and studies innovation in the ancient world. Finally, our research unit will collaborate locally with the DFG Research Training Group “Innovation Society Today – The Reflexive Creation of Novelty” (GRK 1672), directed by Prof. Arnold Windeler, Professor of Organizational Sociology at Technische Universität Berlin. Exchanging ideas and collaborating with these research groups and projects, for example by organizing small workshops on common themes and concepts at Freie Universität, will contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of our research unit, and promises to provide additional stimuli for the individual projects.
