Location & Travel Information

Conference Location and Accommodation:

The “Seminaris”, our conference center and hotel, is situated in the southwestern part of Berlin, in a district called Dahlem. It was built on the campus of the Freie Universität Berlin and is therefore in walking distance to all the surrounding research centers, university buildings, institutes, and departments. Additionally, the famous Max-Planck-Gesellschaft has numerous research facilities in the area.  The museums of Berlin-Dahlem are part of the capital’s museum cluster (Staatliche Museen zu Berlin) and, amongst other great exhibitions and archives, are home to the largest ethnological collections in the world. The district is famous for its vast parks, grand villas, the large Grunewald forest, and the beautiful lake Wannsee. Visitors should not miss the area’s Botanicals Gardens, the Jagdschloss Grunewald with its painting collection, St. Annen church, and the philological university library, which was designed by star architect Norman Foster – to name but a few sights…

So, feel free to arrive early (or stay longer) and visit the cosmopolitan city of Berlin as well as all the visual and intellectual treasures near the conference center and hotel!
