Layout, format, and language
Templates for seminar papers and theses can be found here.
Please use Roman numerals (I, II, III, IV, etc.) as page numbers for the lists at the beginning of the paper. Although the title page is counted as Roman I, the page number does not need to be displayed on the title page.
Arabic numbering (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) begins with the first page of the main text (i.e., the introduction).
From the appendix onward, please use lowercase Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, etc.).
The Freie Universität Berlin encourages everyone to contribute to making the university a discrimination-free and diversity-friendly environment. In this context, students are also asked to use non-discriminatory and inclusive language. More information can be found here.
Additionally, the American Psychological Association provides a guide on bias-free language.
