Digital Applications
Potential Supervisor: Daniel Fürstenau
Level: Master thesis
Background
The increasing prevalence of digital health applications (DiGA) makes a systematic evaluation of their effectiveness and cost-effectiveness necessary. In addition to medical outcomes, economic effects are increasingly becoming a focus of healthcare provision and regulation. Against this background, the thesis may either compare DiGA with and without blended care approaches or compare DiGA with and without the use of artificial intelligence. The aim is to identify differences in healthcare outcomes and cost structures; a suitable dataset is generally available, but could be specifically expanded depending on the respective research question.

Background
Digital health applications (DiGA) are becoming increasingly important in healthcare provision, yet their actual medical and economic effects vary considerably. Despite clear requirements set by the BfArM, it remains unclear how individual DiGA differ in terms of effectiveness, risks, and side effects. The thesis aims to compare different applications based on available and, if necessary, expanded data in order to transparently assess their medical outcomes and economic impacts and thereby contribute to the evidence-based further development of digital healthcare.
