Recognition of Credits and Letters of Recommendation

Recognition of Credits

If you are planning to study abroad, please follow the procedure described below and submit all of the required information or fill up this form and follow the process described therein. Please note that submissions with incomplete information will not be processed.

 

Before your semester abroad:

To get a course recognized, it is necessary that Prof. Trabandt signs your learning agreement before your semester abroad. Therefore, please send the following information to ls-trabandt@wiwiss.fu-berlin.de:

  • Your name + surname and your student ID number
  • Your subject of study at the FU
  • The name of the university you are going to study at
  • The following information about the course that you want to get recognized
    • The title of the course
    • The content and structure of the course
    • The name of the course instructor
    • The title of the central textbook
    • The list of literature of the course
    • The syllabus of the course (if available)
    • Contact hours per week
    • the Type of examination
  • The equivalent module in your subject of study at the FU for which you want to get the course recognized

                                                                                                                                                                                 After having submitted these information per email, please make an appointment (via email to ls-trabandt@wiwiss.fu-berlin.de) for coming to our secretariat (room 251) and bring your original learning agreement.

 

After your semester abroad:

After returning from your semester abroad, please send the following information to ls-trabandt@wiwiss.fu-berlin.de:

  • Your name + surname and your student ID number
  • Your subject of study at the FU
  • The name of the university you studied at
  • The following information about the course that you want to get recognized
    • The title of the course
    • The content and structure of the course
    • The name of the course instructor
    • The title of the central textbook
    • The list of literature of the course
    • The syllabus of the course (if available)
    • Contact hours per week
    • the Type of examination
  • The equivalent module in your subject of study at the FU for which you want to get the course recognized
  • Please include the scanned certificate of performance in your mail.

                                                                                                                                                                           

After having submitted these information per email and for the final step of the recognition, please make again an appointment (via email to ls-trabandt@wiwiss.fu-berlin.de) for coming to our secretariat (room 251). This time, please bring the original  certificate of performance of the course.

   

   

Letters of Recommendation

You may apply for a letter of recommendation if you have taken at least one course with Prof. Trabandt. In addition, you must have obtained a good or very good grade. Exceptions will be considered only on a case by case basis.

 

We require the following information to decide whether we can support you with a letter of recommendation:

        • What program are you applying for (announcement, information about the institution, your motivation)?    
        • What are the criteria by the institution / for the scholarship?
        • When is the application deadline?  
        • Where should the letter be sent to?  
        • What are the guidelines for the reference regarding language, content and length? Is there a special form?
        • We need an up-to-date CV and transcript of records. The CV should include all relevant information such as education, internships, professional experience and social commitment (if any).
