Doctoral Programs

BWL:
Please note that, before applying for the Doctoral Program in Business Research (DPBR), you have to find a professor who would be interested and willing to supervise your doctoral dissertation. Please be careful and do NOT send your proposal to professors that are not very close to your research project.

VWL:
In case you hold a Master of Science relevant for a doctoral degree in economics, there are two ways to apply:

  1. You apply for one of our doctoral programs in economics (see https://www.wiwiss.fu-berlin.de/en/studium-lehre/promotion/index.html
  2. A professor from our School accepts your application. This way is nowadays more the exception than the rule. Finding, contacting and convincing possible advisors (e.g.  by using our webpages) is your task. Our professors receive many PhD-proposals from all over the world – and are, therefore, highly reluctant to accept further students that are not inscribed into one of our doctoral programs. Please be careful and do NOT send your proposal to professors that are not very close to your research project.
