Short Biography

My research and teaching interests include corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, gender & diversity in organizations, institutional approaches to employment relations and human resource management, international management, leadership, and organizational change. As the principal investigator for the project “BOARDEQUALITY: Women in the Boardroom: Institutional and Organizational Approaches to Gender Equality” funded by the European Commission’s 7th Framework Programme for Research, I have investigated the determinants and effects of the gender composition of corporate boards. In my research on international and comparative employment relations and HRM, I have examined how national institutional factors and cross-national industry-specific factors affect firms’ HR strategies in the auto and banking industries. My research on organizational change in non-profit organizations has focused on post-merger integration processes in trade unions and on the effect of changes in the gender composition of union committee structures on organizational reputation, identity and strategy.
