The Laws of Social Cohesion (LSC)

The Laws of Social Cohesion" (LSC) is an interdisciplinary research project approved by the Berlin University Alliance "Grand Challenge Initiatives" funding line. In the LSC project, social scientists and legal scholars from Freie Universität and Humboldt Universität Berlin are researching the role of law in social cohesion.

My research focuses on the commitment of large companies to societal goals. I use discourse and text-analytic methods to investigate how the legal system can enforce a discourse on corporate accountability. For example, companies are forced by legal regulation to disclose non-financial and diversity information (EU Directive 2014/95/EU) and to publish targets for the representation of women on their boards (Gesetz für die gleichberechtigte Teilhabe von Frauen und Männern an Führungspositionen, FüPoG I).
