Causal Machine Learning Master Course

News vom 09.09.2026

We are happy to announce our new course, Causal Machine Learning, in the module "Methods in Empirical Economics" (12 ECTS) Winter Semester 2026/27.

This course features a special structure: the first half introduces the theoretical foundations of causal inference and machine learning methods (complemented by applied Python tutorials), while the second half consists of a seminar where students independently work on a causal ML topic, present a research paper, and write a seminar paper.

Key dates and information:

  • Tutorial Start: October 14, 2026 (Introduction to Python and essential tools).
  • Kick-off Session: October 15, 2026 (Course overview and Q&A for all organisational questions).
  • Enrolment: Please register via Learn@FU for the e-learning course "Causal Machine Learning" to access all materials and announcements.

While the course is designed as a 12-ECT module, we offer flexible participation options (6 ECTS for each part) for students in other programmes, such as the Master in Statistics. For full details on the syllabus, prerequisites, and the reading list, please visit the official course page.

We are looking forward to an exciting semester bridging econometrics and modern machine learning!
