Course Contents

This module provides an introduction to research in management and organizational behavior. Throughout the course, we will discuss fundamental questions and theories ofthis field of research. To understand, how these theories apply to organizational phenomena, quest speakers will provide insights into their daily business. Moreover, tounderstand how these theoretical questions can be explored based on empirical research, we will discuss different quantitative and qualitative research methods and you will develop your own research project proposal. To get your thinking started, we will read and discuss selected manuscripts, which have been published in top management journals.

Format

The module consists of a lecture and a seminar, which will take place as one session each week. The course will take place on Thursdays 10 am ct to 1 pm. The course starts on October 21st. Participation is mandatory.

Application

The seminar has limited capacity and requires a prior application. In order to apply for the seminar, please send a transcript of records (Leistungsübersicht) to Dr. Silja Hartmann (silja.hartmann@fu-berlin.de) by Monday, October 11th 2021 (12 noon), at the latest. We will notify you via email by Friday, October 15th 2021, of whether you received a spot in the course.

Examination

The examination for this module will consist of a written thesis of 10-15 pages (See Style Guide: ENGLISH | DEUTSCH ) together with a group presentation and discussion. Language of the seminar will be English. The group presentation will be done in English. The seminar papers can be written in either English or German.
