Prof. Dr. Thomas MellewigtVitae: Studies of Business Administration at the Universities of Paderborn and Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; afterwards Research Assistant at the University of Mainz and completion of doctorate in 1995. 1998 award of the Stinnes-Foundation for the doctoral thesis. 1995-1998 Head of Regulatory Economics at o.tel.o communications GmbH & Co. 1998-2002 Research Assistant at the University of Mainz and habilitation(2002). 2003-04 Professor of Organization at the University of Leipzig, 2004-06 Professor of Strategy and Organization, especially Media Economics, at the University of Paderborn. Since 2006: Professor of Strategic Knowledge Management (Deutsche Telekom Foundation Distinguished Chair) at the Freie Universität Berlin.

Numerous publications on strategic management topics in national and international peer-reviewed journals, e.g.: Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Zeitschrift für betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung, Die Betriebswirtschaft, Journal of Business Venturing, Managerial and Decision Economics, and Academy of Management Perspectives. Member of the Editorial Boards of Die Betriebswirtschaft and Strategic Management Journal. Associate Program Chair of the Strategic Management Society Conference 2007 in San Diego (USA) and Conference Program Chair of the Strategic Management Society Conference 2008 in Cologne. Reviewer for the Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Management International Review and Die Betriebswirtschaft.

Research interests: Knowledge management from an economic perspective, with a special focus on strategic alliances, outsourcing and organizational economics.
