Professor of Management at the Free University Berlin

Vitae:  Studies of Business Administration at the Free University Berlin (Dipl.-Kfm. 1978) and Management Science at the Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London (M.Sc. 1979); then Research Assistant to Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Staehle at the Institute of Management, Free University Berlin, and completion of doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.). Between 1985 and 1988 organizational consultant for communication and data technology at the Siemens AG. Return to the Institute of Management at the Free University Berlin as an Assistant Professor; since 1991 Full Professor of Management (Planning and Organization) at the Bergische Universitaet Wuppertal. Called to chairs at the Free University Berlin and the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. Since October 1995 Professor of Management at the Free University Berlin and Director of the interdisciplinary and inter-university research group “Inter-firm Networks”.

Visiting professor at the Vienna University of Economics, University of Innsbruck, at Bentley College in Boston, at the University of Arizona in Tucson and the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Founding co-editor of "Managementforschung” and the "Industrielle Beziehungen", a member of the editorial board of other leading magazines such as "Academy of Management Review", "Organization Science", "Organization Studies" and "Scandinavian Journal of Management".

Research interests: New Organizational Forms, Strategic Networks, Outsourcing and Insourcing, Project and Innovation Management, Industrial Relations, International Management, Management and Organizational Theory.
