Process
General information on the process can be found on the following page:
https://www.wiwiss.fu-berlin.de/fachbereich/bwl/pwo/lehre/Abschlussarbeiten/index.html
Please use this as a basic reference and coordinate additionally with your supervising academic staff member.
For Master’s theses, participation in a colloquium is also required, in which you will present the progress of your work during the semester.
Application
If you decide to write your thesis at our department, please send us an email with:
-
A brief description of your area of interest
-
If applicable, a specific research question
-
If applicable, a suggestion for a supervisor
Please address your request to our team assistant, Lea Jargstorf:

Exposé
As you can see in the general process model, a considerable amount of time is allocated for developing the exposé. The exposé will contribute significantly to the final thesis. Therefore, we see the following as requirements for your exposé:
-
Length: 7–8 pages
-
Abstract: less than 150 words
-
Structure including research question/problem description
-
Preliminary literature review (a list of key sources relevant to your thesis with a few references each)
-
Methodology (approach, data sources, analysis methods)
-
Hypotheses/expected results
-
Timeline (project plan/Gantt chart including execution and writing phases)
-
Language: German or English
Master's students must present an updated version of the exposé during the midterm discussion.
If you are interested in writing your thesis (Bachelor's or Master's) at our department, you will find relevant information on this page.
