Social entrepreneurship is associated with "entrepreneurial thinking and action for the benefit of society and for the solution or improvement of social malpractices" (Achleitner). If social entrepreneurs pursue their goals with the help of a company and through market action, it is referred to as social enterprises.

In connection with the fulfillment of a "social mission," social entrepreneurs are credited with goals related to the "social mission": this include the creation of "common goods" or "public goods" or the emergence of "social value." We are particularly interested in the concept of social value as a possible basis for understanding the "social mission."

Social Entrepreneurship wird mit „unternehmerischem Denken und Handeln zum Wohle der Gesellschaft und zur Lösung oder Verbesserung gesellschaftlicher Missstände“ (Achleitner) verbunden. Sofern Social Entrepreneurs ihre Ziele mit Hilfe eines Unternehmens und durch Markthandeln verfolgen, spricht man von Social Enterprises.

In Verbindung mit der Erfüllung einer „social mission“ werden Social Entrepreneurs Ziele zugeschrieben, die in Beziehung zur „social mission“ stehen: dazu gehören die Schaffung von „common goods“ oder „public goods“ bzw. die Entstehung von „social value“. Wir interessieren uns besonders für das Konzept des Social Value als mögliche inhaltliche Grundlage für das Verständnis der „social mission“.

Das Forschungsvorhaben wird von der DFG finanziert.
