We are pleased to announce that Professor Robert Davison from the City University of Hong Kong will visit Freie Universität Berlin on October 6, 2025. During his stay, he will offer the research seminar “Research Integrity Matters”, to which we warmly invite you.

This seminar is primarily aimed at PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

Participants will earn 1 credit point (CP) through DPBR upon attending. Faculty members are also warmly encouraged to join.

In this seminar, Prof. Davison will delve deeply into the nature of research integrity, particularly from the perspective of a journal editor. He will discuss enduring issues such as publish-or-perish pressures, ethical challenges including inappropriate referencing and harsh reviewing, and the emerging impact of generative AI tools on research integrity. The talk aims to foster lively debate and critical reflection, recognizing that some viewpoints may be contentious and provoke disagreement.

Bio

Robert Davison is a Professor of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong and a Fellow of the AIS. His research expertise encompasses the use and misuse of information systems, problem solving, guanxi formation, and knowledge management. Renowned for his contributions in action research, he serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Information Systems Journal, the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries, and the Information Systems Practice Journal. He also chairs IFIP’s Technical Committee 9 (ICT and Society). Prof. Davison is known for advocating inclusive and indigenous perspectives in research.
