Since the winter semester of 2012/2013, the students of the Master Program Economics may accomplish a so-called Fast-Track.

What is the Fast-Track?

The establishment of the Fast-Track is based on an enhanced cooperation between the Berlin School of Economics (BSE) and the Master Program Public Economics. The main objective of the Fast-Track is the early promotion of young, motivated and outstanding early-stage researchers with the intention of obtaining a doctoral degree. The Fast-Track enables students of the Master Program Public Economics to attend basic courses of the BSE already during their master studies and thus to benefit from the contact and exchange with the PhD students of the BSE. Ideally, due to the Fast-Track, students may shorten the total length of their master and doctoral studies by a whole year by completing all of the 1st-year basic courses of the BSE during their master studies

What are the requirements I have to meet in order to accomplish the Fast-Track?

The basic requirement is the enrollment in the Master Program Economics. Apart from that, students do not have to meet any additional formal requirements in order to attend the BSE courses. However, the completion of BSE courses does not automatically guarantee a successful application for a place in the PhD program. Rather, students must apply for a place in the BSE separately in due time. For further information please see the website of the BSE. Completed BSE courses will be credited to the PhD program after the student’s admission. Regardless of the outcome of the application process for the BSE, the completed courses remain credited to the Master Public Economics.

How can I attend courses of the Fast-Track?

The BSE courses offered at the School of Business and Economics of the Freie Universität Berlin can be attended without advance registration. If students wish to attend BSE courses offered elsewhere, they should contact the program coordinator or his team about crediting possibilities beforehand.

BSE courses should be eligible for recognition the fields of specialization. One BSE course (Micro I/II, Macro I/II, Econometrics I/II) will be acknowledged as one specialization course. If two of those BSE courses are selected, they will be acknowledged as three specialization courses.
